PART 1: Classy Red & Black for Formal Family Christmas Pictures
My mom started a new Christmas Eve tradition when we (me and my siblings) became adults and left the house! At first, I was not so sure how I felt about it. But with a few years under my belt, I’m starting to enjoy formal family Christmas Eve dinners! My husband and I have recycled bridesmaid’s dresses and groomsman’s suits for it. I’ve worn last-minute Amazon fits, and one year, I found a little satin outfit at Francesca’s in the mall with about 30 minutes to spare. BUT THIS YEAR, I am prepared! I’m sharing four stunning holiday outfit collections that you can wear for formal family Christmas pictures (or events)!!
Start with a red Christmas dress from Petal & Pup for mom.
If I’m searching for a formal dress, you better believe Petal & Pup is at the top of my brand’s list. I can trust the quality and fit…two clothing qualities that aren’t easy to find these days!! In my opinion, when you’re trying to go for a formal look, it seems strangely obvious when something isn’t quality. These three dresses jumped off the page when I was searching for classic red & black holiday photo outfits for mom!
Next, find an affordable men’s suit from Express.
When I saw our local mall was losing its Express, I was a little shocked and hurt. Express was my elder millennial self’s go-to shopping destination in college. THANK GOODNESS they remain online!! I still dress my husband in their 1MX slim dress shirts today (cue the nostalgia). Express is where I recommend finding formal suit pieces for your man that are affordable, fit well, and will be the perfect grounding piece for your formal family Christmas pictures.
3. Finish this classic look with a red Christmas dress or suit for your toddler!
My sweet 2-year-old (at the time) niece wore a tule gown to our Christmas Eve dinner last year and my son was in a vest and suit, for which he would absolutely, under no circumstances wear the jacket. Was it perfectly easy to get them in their dress clothes? Absolutely not. Are the formal family Christmas pictures ones I hope we look back on and love? Absolutely yes!
I’ve been thinking a lot about our Christmas Eve tradition and here’s the conclusion I’ve reached: investing in formal family Christmas outfits is more than just about looking great in photos – it's about creating memories you'll treasure for years to come. I hope the coordinated outfits I’m sharing today add a touch of magic to your holiday celebrations and help your family shine with joy and fun. Whether you're capturing the perfect Christmas card photo or enjoying a festive dinner, dressing formally makes the moment feel extra special. Here’s to making our Christmas 2024 outfits (and memories) unforgettable!
